etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit Installation - 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look, and installing the etrailer Base Plate on a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There's five main components required for flat towing any vehicle. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate, and that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle, creating a structural mounting point, for not only your tow bar, but all of your other components. So connecting to that base plate, we have the tow bar, so this will go from that base plate to the hitch on the RV, and that's what tows the car down the road. And just like a trailer, you do have safety cables, just in case of a disconnect, it's gonna hold everything together. We also have diode wiring, which is gonna transmit the light signals from the RV to the taillights on the towed vehicle, giving you your running lights, your turn signals, and brake lights, and sometimes, your braking systems will need to tie into diode wiring, so that is a highly recommended item. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Blue Ox's baseplate. And this is what our baseplate looks like when it's installed. The baseplate is going to be behind our fascia here, so it's gonna be mostly hidden with just our attachment points sticking through where the tow hooks used to be. We do have some cutouts here in the front that really aren't a hundred percent necessary. It does depend on the braking system and things that you've decided to install, if you're gonna use these components or not. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit here on our 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. So, the base plate kit is gonna be one of the several different components that we need to successfully flat tow our vehicle here. We do need to make sure that we're abiding by compatibility with the tow bar. That's gonna be the main two things that have to work together, the base plates and the tow bar. For the Blue Ox base plate kit here, those are gonna be directly compatible with all of the motorhome-mounted Blue Ox tow bars. However, if you have some other tow bars, such as those from Roadmaster or Demco, there are available adaptor separately that you can purchase in order to make the two compatible. more

Today, on our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms. So, here's what our base plate's gonna look like once we have it installed on our Jeep Grand Cherokee. And this is gonna provide us a secure attachment point for our tow bar to hook up to whenever we're flat towing. And you can see that most of the brackets are gonna be hidden on the front of our Jeep. And when we're not towing, we can come to the tab, we can pull on the pull ring, rotate the tab, and we're gonna remove it. That way, it's a lot more cleaner look, and it's a lot more hidden. more

So these factory openings pop out and that's where our base plate comes through, and so they're going to be kind of tucked back a little bit, not very visible, but still easy to get to.And with this one, you're really not going to have to trim a whole lot. more

Today in our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're gonna be installing Roadmaster's EZ4 Base Plate Kit. Part number RM-521440-4.Now that you've got your base plate fully installed we've got everything else that we'll need to get our flat tow for our vehicle behind our motor home set up.We've got our tow bars, which is the connection point between your base plate and your motor home's hitch. We have our braking system. We have our wiring, which gives us all of our stop, turn and tail lamp signals from our motor home to our vehicle.And to be able to connect our tow bar to our base plate, we're using Roadmaster's Quick Disconnect Kit. It'll give you a secure point that'll allow your vehicle to be pulled behind your motor home.On each side there will be a location for your safety chain and a connection point. The sleeves here for your connection point can be disconnected by pulling the pin, rotating it and pulling it out and that'll just give you a cleaner look when you're not using your vehicle for flat tow.Additionally, your base plate has a mounting bracket for your wiring and for your break away switch. more

So here's what our baseplate looks like once we have it fully installed. This is gonna be the connection point from our motor home where our tow bar's gonna hook up to our Jeep. It's gonna take a lot of strain and stress off the front suspension of our Jeep because it's gonna evenly distribute that towing weight across the front of the frame here. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today in this 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part #BX1128.Now the reason you're going to want a base plate like this for your Grand Cherokee is that this will allow you to safely and easily hook up a tow bar to your vehicle so you can safely flat tow it behind a motor home. Here's what our base plate looks like installed. What's great about this base plate is that it's designed to work in the cutouts where your factory tow hooks would be on your vehicle. If your vehicle doesn't have factory tow hooks there is an area that you can follow to easily score out with a utility knife to remove it and have access to your removable arms.The way the arms work, you simply take the arm, have this tab at a horizontal angle, push it in and twist it 90 degrees, and it'll lock into place with the spring loaded pin. The way this pin works is it prevents it from rotating so you can't take out the arm and this is where your tow bar will attach to. When you want to remove it, simply pull on the pin, twist and you pull off the arm.To help keep dirt and debris from entering the socket we do have these included cups which just slide into place and it'll make it easy for you to reinsert your arms when you need to because it keeps all the road debris, and dirt, and whatnot out of there. more

It's going to provide attachment points or connection points for motor home mounted tow bars.This base plate is going to have a black powder coat finish. It's going to resist any rust or corrosion, and it doesn't require a crossbar like some of the other base plates out there. This base plate is going to have removable arms. Simply pull the pin and clip, remove the arms when not in use. more

Part number RM dash five two one four four zero dash four.This is hat our base plate looks like when it's installed. This is gonna offer you the safety of towing your vehicle behind your RV when you're traveling. Offers a nice clean look when not in use, it's nice and tucked in in the bumper fascia, doesn't stick out too far. It also has a black powder coat finish to resist any rusting or corrosion.When it comes time to use your base plate, when you're getting ready to tow, simply take your removable arms, pull your pin, slide it into place, twist until it locks in. Today on our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be having a look at, and installing, the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number RM-521440-4. Here's what a Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit looks like installed. As you'll notice, it's a nice, clean look, which doesn't stick out very far from our factory tow hook opening here. It replaced our factory tow hooks, giving us a very clean and subtle look on our vehicle. Most people, when they look at the front of your Jeep, they won't even be able to tell that it's been set up to be flat towed behind a motor home. We have this nice, easy to use, safety chain attachment point to hook up to. What I like about this, compared to some other base plates on the market, is that it sticks far away from any painted surface, so when you're clipping your safety cable or chain onto there, you don't have to worry about the cable dangling, and hitting your painted surfaces and scratching them. Closer to the center of our vehicle, off of the driver's side, we have these two prongs here for our optional wiring bracket, which you can your six pull round, your four way flat, or whatever other electrical connection you need for a towed vehicle lighting system, or an airline fitting for a towed vehicle breaking system. more

Today on our 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be a look at installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number BX1123. This is what it's going look like once it gets installed. As you can see, it's got a nice powder coated finish. Does have our mounting tabs to mount our electrical connectors, whichever one you should decide to use being at a 4 or a 6 or a 7 weight connector. Going to have your safety chain loop hole and will have your spot for your arms to fit into to attach your tow bar. Simply slide them into position, turn it down and it locks. Now you're ready to put on your tow bar. more

Today on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to show you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms. This part number is BX1128. All right, now this is what the base plate looks like once we have it installed on the vehicle. As you can see, it's pretty unassuming. Not a whole lot of extra stuff that we're going to see here on the front. Basically, it's either going to replace your tow hook or it's going to replace the tow hook cover that would've been in place there. Now these are supplied with black covers. more

Roadmaster EZ Base PLate Kit Installation - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to review and install the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number 521440-1B. Here's what our base plate is going to look like once it's installed. The base plate itself is steel constructed, fully welded and has a nice black powder coated finish so it blends in nicely with our vehicle. When we're ready to use our new tow bar we can simply take the quick link cable, feed it through the quick link and tighten it down. We'll bring in our removable arm, slide the notched end into the tube, it'll line up, rotate, and lock in place. Note that the angle here on the removable arm will face the inside. That will help keep track of the driver and passenger side removable arms. more

Roadmaster EZ Base PLate Kit Installation - 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number 521440-1B. Our first step is going to be opening up the hood to the engine compartment. In some applications, there'll be push pin fasteners here in the upper fascia. For this application there aren't any, it simply just pops up from fasteners located inside the fascia and releases from the core support. Next, we're going to move underneath where we'll remove the lower rock guard. Here you can see the fasteners along the front edge. We're going to remove the plastic push pin fastener first using a flat bladed screwdriver. more

Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit Installation - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Roadmaster Base Plate Kit, part number 1419-5. Now to begin our install, on most applications we'll first need to remove the lower splash guard. However, for this application we don't have one, so there won't be one to remove. Our next step will be removing the rock guard behind the front fascia. The rock guard is secured to the frame with four fasteners that go into the well nuts of the frame. These attachment points will also become the new attachments points for our base plate, so we'll need to remove these fasteners and the rock guard, and it will not be reinstalled. Now with the rock guard out of the way, we'll need to remove the front tow hook. more

Roadmaster Base Plate Installation - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on this 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee we are going to install part number 1425-1 from Roadmaster. This is the Roadmaster XL series base plate. To begin we are going to remove the grill and the bumper. Removing the bumper is optional, but we are going to remove it so it is easier to see what is going on. First off, we will start by removing the grill. There are two bolts on top to remove. To remove the grill there is a little catch underneath here. You can pull that up, and it makes it a little easier to move around. There is a clip in the middle that is a little hard to get to, so you have to take a screw driver and pop it up, and that will bring it loose. :41 more
